Bringing in Ethics in Services - Real Estate Agents

I recently was reminded about how better ethics would serve us well in the area of home buying and selling.

Realtors, who have their place in the world of home buying and selling, however, do a disservice, in my opinion by not being as completely candid as possible. Some ways they could improve:

  • Do not keep telling clients that the "Inspection will find it". It is too late sometimes to walk out of things. Instead trying to help clients find problems upfront would be useful.

  • I understand that realtors are brokers, but please do not keep trying to create the impression of urgency ("Oh Houses are selling so quickly - you must put a bid on this one", or "Houses are not moving at all, price yours well below the market")

  • Do not try to tell your client that every problem he/she finds in a given house, is a problem that the realtor has seen and fixed before!
I think just these three areas of improvement will enhance the ethics and overall experience in the area of real estate purchase and sale! What do you think?

By the way, a good blog on responsible nanotechnology is right here.
